Masks

Carved masks are used extensively in dancing and other ceremonial functions in Northwest Coast Native tradition. Woods typically used are cedar and alder, which were widely available. Masks can be basic or quite elaborate, with eyes that open or one creature that transforms into another as part of a story.

David has created many masks for the dance groups he has been involved with as well as on a commission basis. Some of these are displayed below. To discuss a commission, please contact David.
